Halloween creeps 2025. |

A selection of mammal skulls at Cora's Curiosities, 2600 N High. Operated by a longtime Rocky Horror shadowcast member and burlesque performer, this North Columbus oddities shop offers skulls and bones, medical miscellany, taxidermy, fossils, antiques, spooky handicrafts, and myriad other items for unique decorating and house-haunting needs. |

Ghost of Big Buford (?) and some dollar store tombstones haunt the drive-through at the Hudson and High Rally's for Halloween 2025. |

Campus food delivery robots are sporting scary faces for Halloween 2025. |

Red Riding Hood and friends in short and sexy Halloween outfits brave long lines and the late October damp and chill to get into Ugly Tuna Saloona, 195 Chittenden Ave, the most popular student bar for at least 20 years. |
November leaves on the MASSIVE oak tree at 389 E 13th. Tree certainly predates the 1960s ugly box behind it and may even predate the entire neighborhood. |

These Summit St skelly boys are ready to have some Thanksgiving!!! |

Script Ohio spelled out in the windows of the soon-to-open new hospital on the eve of the 2025 Ohio State-Michigan game. Turned out be good luck as the reigning National Champion #1 Buckeyes broke Michigan's 4-year winning streak against vastly superior Ohio State teams with a 27-9 victory. |

Was delighted to hear Columbus Metropolitan Library had digitized its 2 millionth item. Was even happier that it was a c 1910 scrapbook with photos of the neighborhood!! This one shows kids coming home from the new Indianola Junior High at E 16th and Indianola. Intersection looks surprisingly little changed. |

Bright LED Christmas lights light up a cold and snowy December night on N 4th St in 2025. |

Anti-ICE information at Hudson and N High bus stop. ICE goons descended on the city December 17 and set to work attacking our immigrant neighbors. Our Somali, Middle Eastern, and Latin neighbors spent the holiday season in fear as ICE thugs hunted them to violently sieze them and disappear them into distant gulags with little or no due process and little or no notification or regard for family and friends left behind. |

Down to the protest Jan 10. This was the most touching sign I saw, carried by a Somali man. Meanwhile, a group of Somali-American families were handing out samosas and hot, sweet Somali tea (shaah) to the hundreds.
Back in December--shortly before Christmas--Trump went on an unhinged rant denouncing Somali-American people as "garbage." Subsequently, Ohio's shame, Vice-President J.D. Vance, and other Trump minions set about demonizing Somalis in general and the Somalis of Minnesota in particular. ICE flooded Minneapolis with thugs and began assaulting and kidnapping people. On Jan 7, an ICE goon shot and killed Renee Good, a US citizen mom of 3, on a street where protesters were denouncing the actions. The government immediatedly lied and accused her of being a terrorist.
Columbus is home to over 60,000 Somali-Americans--the second-largest population in the US. |
